COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION CHAIRPERSONS
Author Day KEHSA hosts Author Day twice a year – one event at each school. We need 2 chairs to research and select authors, arrange their visits to the schools, coordinate book sales (including taking orders for signed books and distributing them to students), and organize the student lunch with the author.  
Book Fair KEHSA hosts a book fair at both Kiel and Stonybrook Schools in November and again in the spring. The book fair offers students and parents the opportunity to purchase books and other items, with KEHSA receiving a portion of the total sales that is used to purchase books for the library, classroom libraries and students. We need one chair for each school. The coordinators will book the vendor, plan the event, set up activities, and staff the sale with parent volunteers. The fair will be open during and after school hours.  
Family Engineering Nights Family Engineering Nights offer families an opportunity to work together as they work on different challenges.  The chair of these events will help coordinate the sign-ups and check-in families to the event.  There are 2 events held - one at each school.  
Gertrude Hawke Fundraiser Help coordinate this fundraiser by working with the schools to distribute the flyers to take home and then help organize any orders that are delivered to the schools.  
 Holiday Shop KESHA hosts a Holiday Shop at both Kiel and Stonybrook to provide students an opportunity to purchase gifts for the winter holidays. The store is available in late November to early December. Coordinators assist in booking the vendor, selecting the items for sale, setting up the event and staffing the sale. Sale occurs during school hours  
Holiday Pictures with Santa KESHA hosts a Holiday Pictures with Santa event for families from both Kiel and Stonybrook. The chair for this event will help plan picture backgrounds, refreshments and sign-ups for pictures. This event will happen outside of school hours.  
Hospitality  This chair is responsible for coordinating and providing coffee and refreshments during various school events throughout the school year. Events can occur during or after school hours. Volunteers typically provide baked goods and/or assist in set-up and clean-up before or after the event.  
 Mini Grants KEHSA Sponsors several grants, including Mini Grants awarded to teachers for classroom enrichment,  Book Grants for Stonybrook and Kiel Libraries,  Scholarships for 2 graduating Seniors, School Supplies for all Elementary Children,  Kiel Poster Printer Supplies and Kiel, 2nd Floor, Water Bottle Refilling Station.  
Minimum Day - Food Fundraiser Help organize pizza or bagel fundraisers on the minimum days in both schools.  The chairs will help make the events a success by organizing the orders and placing them with the vendor, shopping for supplies the days before the event and coordinating parent volunteers.  
   Original Works Art One chair is needed per school to coordinate the Original Art fundraiser at both schools which is held in the spring. They send home the artwork and order form via backpacks and also collect and manage the sale with the vendor.  
Spirit Wear One of KEHSA’s largest fundraisers, this committee meets with the vendor to determine clothing selections and artwork in May/June for the upcoming school year.  Sales are conducted on-line via pop-up shops periodically throughout the school year.  Committee coordinates the distribution of the merchandise via backpack.  
Tricky Tray Celebrating its 35th year in 2025, KEHSA’s Tricky Tray event held in April is one of the largest fundraisers. The event chairs will oversee the planning and execution, ensuring it runs smoothly and successfully. Key responsibilities include coordinating volunteers, soliciting donations for prizes, promoting the event, managing ticket sales, setting up and executing the event, handling financial management, and overseeing post-event activities.

Trunk or Treat As the Trunk or Treat Chairs, you will be responsible for organizing and overseeing the inaugural Trunk or Treat event, ensuring it is a fun and safe experience for all participants. The event chairs will plan all aspects of the event, including creating and managing volunteer sign-ups, coordinating donations of Halloween candy for distribution, and working with the KEHSA board to secure any necessary permits and schedule security for the event.  On the day of the event you will help organize the volunteers, the trunks and any vendors secured for the day.  
 Yearbook The Yearbook Committee consists of two members for each school. The yearbook committee oversees the whole project and is responsible their respective grades, making sure all kids are represented in the yearbook, go into school to take student pictures if needed, take pictures of staff and make sure all kids and staff have portraits taken. They work directly with the Class Photographers (Class Parent who has been designated as the Yearbook helper) as they take student pictures throughout the year for their respective classes and upload them into the website provided. The Yearbook Committee also works together to produce the yearbook layout, design and theme and communicate regularly with the yearbook vendor about these items as well. In addition, the committee facilitates the sale & distribution of the yearbooks
